STEEL COLUMNS

STEEL COLUMNS - Public Art
STEEL COLUMNS. A sculpture commissioned by Wolverhampton Metropolitan Council for a roundabout in Bilston in 1997 as part of the redevelopment of the Black Country Route. After researching local history and running woodcarving classes in the local Bilston Art Gallery Robert decided to pay hommage to the people who worked in the local steel industry. 19 sweet chestnut trees were acquired from the Woburn Abbey Estate. The tallest columnns are 6m tall.
